Facts about The Knot below come only from The Knot’s own pages and its official App Store listing, checked on 2 November 2026. We could not find an official theknot.com page that documents a seating chart tool’s features in detail, so we don’t describe one beyond what The Knot itself says. Check the sources before deciding.

What The Knot offers
The Knot’s guest list page describes a free tool covering “everything you need … from address collection to RSVP tracking”: adding guests individually, from a spreadsheet template or via a private form; tracking who is attending, meal choices and gifts; organising guests for every wedding event; and exporting responses to send to vendors. RSVPs collected on a The Knot wedding website update the guest list automatically.
On seating specifically, The Knot’s official App Store description lists “Seating Chart & Budget Tools: Keep your wedding budget on track and build interactive seating arrangements with ease.” The Knot also publishes a seating chart template article with a printable seating arrangement reference and planner advice on round, rectangular, long and U-shaped layouts, and an etiquette guide that recommends its Guest List Tool for organising guests before seating them.

Start planning freeAbout SeatFinch
SeatFinch is a seating chart maker built around one idea: you write the rules, it does the first draft. You import a guest list (CSV with name, household, meal and tags), add round or rectangular tables and venue objects (dance floor, bar, stage, DJ, cake), and write rules — “must sit together”, “must not sit together” and “keep households together”. Auto-seat then fills every table while keeping every rule, and tells you which rules conflict if they can’t all be kept. You fine-tune by dragging guests; manual moves respect table capacity, and rules are re-checked whenever you run Auto-seat.
Creating an event with unlimited guests, tables and rules, the floor plan and auto-seating are free for one saved chart, with a watermarked PNG export. A one-time unlock of $19 per event (launch price $14 until Feb 3, 2027) removes the watermark and adds the exports: a seating chart PDF (US Letter) or PNG in three print styles, an escort list (PDF and CSV), a floor plan image and a by-table CSV with meals. SeatFinch does not collect RSVPs, build wedding websites or sell stationery.
Which to choose
The Knot may suit you better if you want one place for your website, RSVPs, guest list and vendors, and you are happy to arrange seating yourself.
SeatFinch may suit you better if you want the seating chart itself to be generated from your rules, with exports for the sign, escort cards and caterer.
Using both is common: collect RSVPs on The Knot, export the list (The Knot says lists are exportable), save it as CSV, and import it into SeatFinch.
